Personally, I really liked the movie as its based on true events which makes it alot more believable. The acting wasw suerb, but I have one problem with the movie - the ending.
The problem is mainly on a personal level, because I personally think Northern Ireland should be granted independence from England as it was annexed and we don't live in the 18th century anymore, so obviusoly England, no matter how much it hurts their stuck up pride should let go of old colonies.
And ofcourse this isn't very relevant to the ending, but my track of thought derives from that opinion. I do not think that the mother should have taken him off the hunger strike. He made that choice, and I think that martyrdom, considering the situation was the only rational decision they could make, and it would have ended the conflict if all the 10 inmates actually died. So from a rational point of view, it was wrong to let him off the strike without his consent.
Also, if we are to get ideological here, the fact that she derives him of his own choice just doesn't sit very well with me. If there's anything I ahte its peple who think they know whats best for me, better than me.
Anyway thats my 2 cents, although I really enjoyed the movie this is the only problem I had with it.
All glory to George!
